Park that attracts certain so-called marginal populations in Amsterdam at nightfall
The Oosterpark (Eastern Park) owes its reputation to its former status as a meeting place for the local youth of the Sixties. This 12-hectare park, which is less gentrified than the Vondelpark, attracts a number of so-called fringe populations after dark, imbuing it with an alternative spirit and the strong smell of natural narcotics. This green space has been tastefully renovated. Of particular note is the beautiful monument to slavery designed by Erwin de Vries. The monument is divided into three parts: past, present and future. A reference point!
