The main cellar houses paintings by the Bushmen, the most recent dating back some 800 years.

The main cellar is the ideal place to see paintings made by the Bushmen. There are more than 500 of them easily accessible on foot, starting from Giant's Castle where you can buy a visit ticket. See in particular the magnificent polychrome eland. The most recent work is about 800 years old. Those who are interested in this beautiful primitive art will be able to purchase J. D. Lewis-Williams, Rock Paintings of the Natal Drakensberg , University of Natal Press, Pietermaritzburg.
