Set on the edge of a wooded hill, Hilltop Resort is the pride of Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. It offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and is a three-hour drive north of Durban via the N2. Hluhluwe-iMfolozi is a premier park, home to the "Big Five": lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Its rich vegetation, grasslands and forests support a wide variety of other wildlife. Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park lies at the heart of "old Zululand" and is rich in history dating back to the Iron Age and the heyday of King Shaka's Zulu kingdom. The park is home to many historic sites. This fascinating game reserve covers 96,000 hectares and comprises the Hluhluwe and iMfolozi game reserves. The Corridor Game Reserve, created in 1989, links the two older parks. The Centenary Centre, easily accessible from Hilltop, offers guided access to the game capture complex, as well as a game capture interpretation center, a community-run craft market and a refreshment kiosk. Hilltop is the oldest resort in KwaZulu-Natal and offers a wide variety of accommodation.
