Visit the site and discover a bronze reproduction of the 64 wagons.

On December 16, 1838, Andries Pretorius, his 530 men and 64 wagons routed a Zulu army. Legendary toll: 3,000 Zulus killed against 4 Boers. December 16, formerly Promise Day, was transformed in 1994 into Reconciliation Day. You can visit the site, with a bronze reproduction of the 64 wagons. For Afrikaners, this is a place of worship. Nearby, the Ncome Museum (8am-4.30pm) presents Zulu history.
