Statue by Noami Jacobson representing Stephen Bantu Biko, an anti-apartheid activist.
In front of the City Hall, accessible from Oxford Street, see here the statue made by Noami Jacobson. Shown here: Stephen Bantu Biko, more commonly known as Steve Biko... The young man was an anti-apartheid activist and founder of the Black Consciousness Movement. He died at the hands of the apartheid police in September 1977, and is buried not far from his home in Ginsberg Cemetery near King William's Town. The site was then renamed in his memory: "Steve Biko Memorial Garden".
