Farm where ostriches put on a show to attract tourists.

Ostriches have been performing since 1938. The Hooper family's got a great way of attracting tourists. Didn't Alex Hooper promise Elizabeth Taylor an ostrich feather dressing gown if the goddess came to visit Highgate! The farm publishes a small newspaper to inform the curious. During the tour you are given a basic knowledge of the bird and then you can have your portrait taken on its back. A kick from the ostrich can kill even a lion!

Tour bien rodé
Point d'intérêt à proximité d'Oudtshoorn. Nous avons eu de la chance nous étions les seuls sur l'heure de visite (attention aux bus de touristes...) Intéressant pour avoir des connaissances sur les autruches.

Une visite très agréable, dans laquelle on apprend tout un tas de choses sur les autruches, leurs petits, leurs plumes, leurs oeufs... Le guide était sympathique. Nous avons aussi pu voir une course, c'est amusant, cela plaît aux petits comme aux grands. Immense magasin de souvenirs.

Dans ce parc on découvre l'élevage des autruches de l'oeuf à l'animal adulte. On peut prendre les petits dans ses bras, donner à manger aux plus grands et meme monter sur leur dos! Vraiment sympathique et original!
