You can see it very clearly from the heights of Signal Hill, the Cape Town Stadium hosted the 2010 World Cup. Specially designed to reduce the impact of the strong wind that often blows on Green Point, it is very bright because its translucent and retractable roof lets the sun shine through. The 4.5 billion rand stadium, with a capacity of 68,000 spectators, currently only hosts the modest teams of Ajax Cape Town and Santos Football Club, and its maintenance costs add several million rand to the municipality's annual budget.
