This mountainous desert in the extreme northwest of South Africa was created in 1991. An agreement was signed with the Nama people to allow them to remain in their natural habitat. In 2002, the South African authorities and the Namibian government created a transboundary park, combining the two former national parks of these respective countries. Here, in the last loop of the Orange River before the Atlantic, one discovers a lunar landscape of simply stunning beauty. Succulent plants, astonishing geological formations, this protected territory of 162 445 ha is partly considered as a desert
