Monsieur DUONG,

Trip to Vietnam from March 9th to 25th March, 2015 with the Mandarin Road agency

Report (limited) of the stay.

We discovered the Mandarin Road agency by relations.
The clarification of the stay lasted several months. It was made on the basis of existing program that we completed by certain sites: Sapa, the coastal road Dong Hoï- Hoï An, lake Lak, Phu Quoc island.

The duration of the stay was attached to 17 days, divided between the 3 main poles: Hue and hanoi, Saigon. This program was modified in last minute because of the changes of hours on the domestic airlines Vietnamese.

The principle of the journey was the following:
- full board, and 3 * hotels,
- routings towards the main poles and hotels by various means of transport (bus, train, plane),
- each pole, a vehicle with 9 seats at our disposal, with driver and French-speaking guide to ensure local tours.

For domestic flights, we opted for Air France for routings Nantes- Roissy and Roissy- Nantes, as well as direct flights Roissy- Hanoi and, with the return, Ho Chi Minh Ville- Roissy.

To obtain visas, we followed the recommendations of the agency that passed the collective letter of approval and individual record hojas de identity to us. This procedure enabled us to have visas at an interesting price (around £ 50). Bring € 45 in currency per person, for quick obtaining a visa to customs Vietnamese.

The trip began with a very average weather: rain to Hanoi, fog with Sapa, with mist Halong bay.
The first day meeting with the Mandarin Road agency, which allowed us to meet people who had prepared our trip.
To Hanoi, visit of the city: the impressive Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, trishaw, puppet show on water, then night train (about 7 hours) to Lao Cai in the North-West of the country. You will have noted the elasticity of the timetables of the train with one hour delay at the beginning of Hanoi.
Upon arrival at Lao Cai, visit of the market of Cao Son with ethnic group H 'Mong; shed school materials in a local school. Some photos of the Chinese border post then road for Sapa. The view will be restricted. You will be able to see the terraced rice paddies and visit the artisans in the neighbouring villages.

Return to Hanoi by a night train (per hour that one), then road for Halong bay. Small cruise aboard a junk, dinner and night on board, visit the cave of Surprises.

The route continues to Ninh Binh. Bike rides through the rice fields, then management Tam Coc for the visit by boat from land Halong bay. Here, the sun shows (finally!) the end of its face, and moral take height. We are surprised by the oarswomen and rowers who handle the oars with their legs.

After visiting the curious cathedral of Phat Diem you will reach the train station of Ninh Binh, for a new night train towards Dong Hoi. This train will also make us surprises since it will arrive with half an hour..... in advance, which means us to descend precipitately from the compartment.
After a local breakfast we will visit by boat the very impressive cave of Phone Nha.
We will then the road to Hue, via Dong Ha.

Hua the outside temperature 30 ° displays- 35 °. This temperature will not leave any more until the end of your stay. The impressive mentioned imperial is visited, then it will be a boat cruise on the Perfume river. The following day we leave by the road to Da Nang and Hoi An via the col Clouds.
In Hoi An, visit to the city and handicraft villages.

At the airport in Da Nang, a flight to Buon Me Thuot. Visit the villages with their “long houses”, then road towards the lake Lak. Excursion in elephants on the lake, visits village and Draysap waterfall.

Flight then for Saigon and departure by road towards the Mekong delta. Visit the floating markets of Cai Be and Can Tho.

A flight to the island of Phu Quoc, where we will be 2 days, housed in small bungalows set in the forest on the edge of the sea. Ideal for a good health.

Return to Saigon by plane; visiting the city, and dinner cruise on the port of Saigon.
End of the stay.

General appreciation

The program established by the agency corresponded to our waiting: visit the main sites of the country by favouring landscapes. It is understood that the temples and pagodas are part of the Vietnamese cultural landscape but visited number, a good dozen, was can be a bit difficult.
The guides, French people have all been appreciated. They have managed to present to us and be commented on various sites. They showed availability: us to introduce at the crossroads of a street crowded by traffic of motorcycle, to search a pharmacy and especially to find a drug adapted to find the points for foreign exchange, in direct us airports airlines, etc.
Mention favourable also to trick the drivers for their seriousness and professionalism.
Practical reasons we chose full-boards. This choice was senses because it allowed us to save time and, moreover, eat dishes with different culinary preparations. The ladies often deplore the too spicy dishes. Special mention for 2 restaurants, Hua and Phu Quoc, which presented menus written in French to us. Mention also for excellent fondue Vietnamese restaurant in a Ninh Binh. Generally the menus are copious. Too much, and sometimes caused when there remained food in the main courses.
The only restaurant on which one is reserved is that of Cao Son, although one has its location in a disadvantaged region.
Thank you at the agency for the “surprise” meal for the last evening: a dinner cruise in the harbour of Saigon (extra!).

In conclusion, it was a very good stay for which we will have excellent souvenirs days were well stocked and programs it respected by qualified guides.
