CHÂTEAU-PALAIS ESTERHÁZY
This castle, surrounded by a 100-hectare English park, is a remarkable example of Hungarian Baroque architecture. Built between 1743 and 1784, it replaced a medieval fortress and was designed by architects Franz Anton Pilgram, Jakab Fellner and József Grossmann. This historic monument played a central role in the development of the town of Pápa. Today, the castle houses a museum and a chapel. Sumptuous interiors, such as the Nádor-terem (Prince's Hall) and the Nagyebédlő (Great Dining Room), bear witness to the splendor of the period.
