This museum, one of the most important in Hungary, exhibits painted panels from the Gothic and Renaissance periods, and from the great masters of the Italian Renaissance. The collection was assembled by Archbishop János Simor from the treasures of his diocese. A remarkable collection from the Christian Museum in the Primate's Palace, giving an insight into Italian and Hungarian painting in the Middle Ages. The Easter Sepulchre is a Hungarian masterpiece of woodcarving.
