BELGRADE CHURCH (ORTODOX PÜSPÖKI SZÉKESEGYHÁZ)
One-tower cathedral with richly decorated interior and garden containing tombstones, near the religious museum.
Erected between 1732 and 1734 by Serbs fleeing the arrival of the Ottomans in Belgrade and dedicated to the Virgin Mary, this one-tower Orthodox cathedral was rebuilt several times. It was one of the few churches in Szentendre to be built in stone from the outset. Men and women were separated by the iconostasis. The interior is richly decorated. The cathedral and its garden are home to numerous tombstones, some in marble. Religious museum nearby.
