A must-see during your stay in Saint-Nectaire, the Maison du fromage is an essential visit to learn all about the famous cheese that has made the village famous. The guided tour, which lasts about 35 minutes, features a lovely film on a large screen, showing aerial images of the Auvergne countryside and the cows that supply the milk; it then continues in a cellar where the Saint-Nectaire cheese is matured and sold in the shop. Already renowned at the court of the Sun King, Saint-Nectaire has become a must-have on cheeseboards. Today, it is an appellation d'origine contrôlée. The guide is inexhaustible and passionate, and will give you all sorts of advice on how to store and enjoy the cheese you will take home. The visit ends with a tasting session where you will have to recognize a dairy Saint-Nectaire from a farm cheese. The shop area offers the best of local Auvergne production with PDO cheeses, traditional charcuterie, craft beers and of course jams cooked in a copper cauldron!

Le film est très didactique sur la fabrication sur la fabrication du saint Nectaire, une visite d'une reproduction d'une cave d'affinage et le plus décevant, la dégustation. 2 minuscules morceaux de st nectaire posés l'un sur l'autre.
Bref la prestation est à oublier.
Par contre la boutique propose une belle variété de fromages fermiers, à consommer sans modération
