HORSE DRAWN TRAM
Historic horse-drawn streetcar car linking Granite Island and Victor Harbor via a 630-meter jetty.
Since 1894, this historic tramway has linked Victor Harbor to Granite Island on a 630-meter pier. Pulled by horses, each streetcar makes the journey several times a day, perpetuating a tradition that goes back more than a century. Originally, the tram was used to transport goods between the port and the island before the arrival of steamships. Today, it offers a panoramic view of Encounter Bay, where in 1802 British navigator Matthew Flinders and French explorer Nicolas Baudin met while mapping the coast.
