CANARIO MUSEUM
Museum near the cathedral with a large collection of Cro-Magnon skulls, bones and several mummies
Not far from the cathedral, this museum, founded in 1879 and the island's main one, traces the history of Gran Canaria before the conquest, features a large collection of Cro-Magnon skulls, and presents the best collection of Guanche remains - including funerary remains such as bones and several mummies - with that of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The museum features several rooms with a library, traditional Guanche tools, ceramics and remnants of Guanche clothing. The bone and mummy conservation room has remained unchanged since the museum opened.
