One of Prague's most impressive theaters. Destroyed by fire just after opening in 1881, it was rebuilt two years later by public subscription. The program of operas, ballets and classical concerts is incredible, and the musicians among the best in the world. This incredible experience in a sublime setting is reminiscent of the 19th-century heyday of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, with its hushed ambience and a lively audience.
