Château Dauphin with a vegetable garden, housing a silver mining museum with a reconstructed mine gallery.

The castle as we see it today is the result of restorations started in the 19th century by the de Moré family, of which a descendant is still the owner. Its construction dates back to the 12th century by Robert I, probably on the site of a 6th century building. The vegetable garden of the 16th century offers a beautiful perspective, it is classified as a historical monument. The visit of the castle includes the inner courtyard, the dungeon, the lounge, the library and the dining room. The museum of silver mines presents a reconstructed mine gallery.

Open all year round by appointment. Easter to June 30, Sundays and holidays. July and August : every day except Monday. From September 1 to November 1: every Sunday and public holidays. Adult : 7 € (castle + gardens). Child : 4 € (castle + gardens). Museum of silver mines 4,5 € and 1,5 €. Visit of the gardens : 4 €. See other rates on the website.

We saw a sign on our route and decided to follow it. We arrived just as they closed the gates for their midday closure (30 minutes). We waited and were glad we did. A great estate, nice view and garden. Worth the small entrance fee. (Also the large dog was very calm and cuddly)

La Château du Dauphin est une visite remarquable ! Temps par les extérieurs que par l’intérieur qui offre une architecture et de nombreux trésor de différentes époque à découvrir ! Nous somme venue ce dimanche pour la journée des château d’Auvergne dans le but de découvrir le patrimoine de notre belle région et nous ne somme pas déçu , je tiens tout particulièrement à encourager la petite jeune guide qui faisait appriorit sa première semaine et qui a fait de sont mieux avec parfois des caractères et des remarques compliquées!
