Beaches around Akrotiri offering pleasant swimming.
A ten-minute walk beyond the parking lot, it's called " Kokkini " in Greek: the famous " Red Beach". You'll discover an impressive but narrow beach of volcanic sand overlooked by red cliffs. The water is pure, and there aren't too many waves. A pleasant place to swim, but a little too crowded in summer, especially as you have to pay for your deckchair. Nearby, Cambia beach is famous for its church and the celebration that takes place there on the evening of July 21. Mesa Pigadia beach, not easily accessible by car from Akrotiri, is not always as clean as you'd like. The easier Gyalos beach is quieter, without umbrellas, and can be reached on foot or by car. In other tones, you can also go by caïque to Aspri Paralia or "White Beach", where the water is surrounded by impressive white cliffs. Mesa Pigadia beach (also known as "Black Beach", with its black pebbles) is less crowded. You'll find it by heading off in the direction of the lighthouse: turn left after about three kilometers and follow a track. There's a sea cave in the rock, which you can walk through. Finally, to the east of Akrotiri, Vlichada is the most impressive beach: black sand and high, improbably shaped cliffs. It's not very busy, but it's still great.

On the other hand there were accidents following crumblings, this part of the island is wild and so wonderful at the same time, I went but am not bathed there me, much seaweed and natural setting is to be admired.
You can buy a good bottle of wine produced on the island with small merchants on parking, they enjoy before buying and wine is a quality exceptional; I recommend Mezzo and Vinsanto.
