Private garden where orange and black triangular butterflies reproduce from June to September.
7 km west of Parikiá. The Valley of the Butterflies or Petaloudes is in fact a private garden criss-crossed by small paths and rich, abundant vegetation, where triangular orange and black butterflies come to breed in their hundreds from June to September. Needing shade, they sleep during the day and fly only at night. They're called Panaxia quadripunctaria (poda), and settle in groups on tree foliage, covering the vegetation. A lovely bucolic stopover with a snack on site.
