Don't miss the visit to the most venerated church of Sifnos.
This 1670 church is the most venerated on Sifnos. As is often the case on the islands, there's a legend about the origins of the place. At a time when pirates and privateers terrorized the Aegean islands, some of them slept in the church, at the foot of an icon of the Virgin Mary. While they slept, women would brave the danger to light candles and burn incense. The smell awakened the pirates, who set off in pursuit of the devout Siphniotes. The Virgin is said to have performed a miracle by separating the rock from the rest of the island.

Monastère jouissant d'une situation admirable, sorte de presqu'île, dirigée vers le large. Un arrêt de bus sur la hauteur (ligne vers Plati Gialo) permet de l'atteindre facilement. Et depuis le monastère, excursion sans probléme par le bord de mer jusqu'à Faros.
