The best restaurants in Croatia Zagreb

When you are in Zagreb, you have to taste the štruk! Some restaurants in town offer it but here we eat only that! This local speciality is a kind of lasagne or gratin dauphinois, which is served with vegetables, cheese, cream or pasta, all baked in the oven. It's finally friendly to eat the same thing, only in appearance since everyone can choose their own garnish. This dish is also available in a sweet version. Theapple and cinnamon štrukli, served in autumn, reminds a bit of the German Apfelstrudel.

With its large vaulted dining room, exposed stone walls and candle-lit patio-terrace, the Vinodol restaurant seduces with its decoration. Traditional Croatian dishes are served here, grilled meats, including lamb or veal peka, cooked over a wood fire, pasta with black truffles or more simply a plate of cold meats and Dalmatian cheeses accompanied by regional or Italian wines. A vegetarian dish as well. A good sign, the presence of locals mingling with tourists. Reservation recommended.

The courtyard terrace of the Hotel Kaptol restaurant is accessed through a porch. In the large, completely renovated room, the brasserie atmosphere is matched with traditional Croatian cuisine. If the decoration has been given a facelift, the taste of spit-roasted meats, simmered under a peka, Slavonian sausages and cheeses, cereal soups and vegetable cakes is still there.
