CHURCH OF SAINT SAVIOR (CRKVA SV. SPASA)
Church with a rose window typical of the Renaissance period, rebuilt after surviving an earthquake.
Entering the historic city through the Pile Gate, immediately on the left, one discovers this church at the beginning of the Stradun. Built by the Andrijići brothers between 1520 and 1528, with the approval of the Dubrovnik Senate, it was commissioned by the citizens grateful for having survived a strong earthquake. On the facade, the rose window is typical of the Renaissance in Dalmatia. Inside, the superb painting of the Ascension by Pietro Antonio da Urbino (1528) is not to be missed.
