For a romantic stroll through Pula's history, a visit to the Austro-Hungarian Navy Cemetery Park is a must. It is located in Stoja, near Valkane Bay. The former cemetery (K.u.k Marinefriedhof) was inaugurated in 1862 and restored in 1990. Classified as a historic monument under the protection of the Hague Convention, it now covers over 22,000 hectares and contains thousands of tombs in the heart of a large green area. Some of the most beautiful are the graves of illustrious admirals. They are decorated with sculptures and statues.
