TOUR DE L'ÎLE
Go there and contact
Île aux Nattes is truly the experience of the end of the world, of disconnection, rest and nature. Travelers have several options for getting there from neighboring Île Sainte-Marie: organize a day trip from your hotel in Sainte-Marie, or opt for a pirogue from La Pointe in Sainte-Marie (3,000 Ar round trip).
On site, it's a gentle stroll on land or sea, with no other plan than to enjoy the superb natural surroundings (with their lagoons, turquoise waters, white sandy beaches...) and the gentle life of the small villages. A well-marked trail runs almost all the way around the island, while another crosses it from north to south. There are other small paths too, but you'll always find your way back. Our tip: take a right turn around the island (west coast) when you dock at Sainte-Marie. You can swim and have lunch along the way. Drive along the beach and when you reach Aurora Lodge to the south, return inland. When you reach the village, head for the lighthouse or Maison Blanche for a beautiful view. The island is also renowned for its vanilla plantations. A project to improve the organization of tourism is currently being studied, but as it stands, it's already a huge favorite. You guessed it, a great day trip to organize from Sainte-Marie, or the possibility of staying here for several nights to melt even more into the local gentleness and enjoy the seabed even more.
