47 km from Antalya, 36 km from Pergé, 36 km from Sidé, Aspendos is located on a small plateau which dominates the valley with the river Eurymédon. The presence of water and the strategic and defensive position of the site could justify the initial choice of the site by the first occupants. This archaeological site shelters a theater in a remarkable state of conservation, it is not only the best preserved theater of Asia Minor but also the largest. It could accommodate 15,000 people. The stage wall, the cavea of the theater and the upper gallery under arcades are also very well preserved. After the crossroads, on the right, don't miss the strange zigzag Seljuk bridge over the turquoise Köprü River. In Aspendos you will also find the largest jewelry center in the country. You will be able to see the different stages of the creation of a jewel, from the cutting of the precious stone to the work on the gold and to its assembly. After visiting the workshops, you can buy a piece of jewelry for yourself.
