Barcelona's Ramblas are an emblematic avenue of the city, often the first place tourists visit. This lively pedestrian promenade runs for around 1.2 km through the heart of Barcelona, linking Port Vell in the south to Plaça Catalunya in the north. The Ramblas is divided into two parts: the quieter northern half, and the southern half, where prostitutes are often to be found at night. The Ramblas are mainly pedestrianized, with only two narrow lanes for cars on either side. Three metro stations serve the Ramblas, offering easy access to the rest of the city. There are many hotels, restaurants and stores along the Ramblas, but prices can be high due to the tourist influx. The Ramblas is also known for its attractions, such as the Wax Museum, the Museum of Erotica, the monument to Christopher Columbus and the Boqueria market. However, it's important to remain vigilant due to the presence of pickpockets and fake artists.
