Practical information : Accomodation Barcelona
Budget & Tips
Prices vary widely depending on the type of accommodation and the season you choose for your stay. A good-quality hotel at €80 per double room in the off-season can easily go up to €200 in high summer! For those on a smaller budget, the price of a bed in a dormitory varies on average from €15 to €40 per person. In luxury hotels, standard rooms range from €150 to €350 per night. To take advantage of the best prices, book in advance directly on hotel websites: many offer discounts for early bookers.
To be booked
Barcelona is a congress city: its setting and climate attract a wide range of sectors for trade shows. During these periods, it will be almost impossible to find a hotel, and prices can easily triple in some establishments. If your stay coincides with the Mobile World Congress in February, remember to book your accommodation at least six months in advance. Of course, May bank holidays and July-August are also very busy periods.
What's very local
Many hotels and apartments have the advantage of a terrace: it's one of the distinctive features of Barcelona's architecture! Similarly, hotel rooftop swimming pools are plentiful: take advantage of them to indulge yourself, as they're not necessarily a luxury in Barcelona!
Throughout the year, the Barcelona Hotel Association organizes activities in the city's emblematic establishments. Don't miss the Week of the Terraces in June, which offers a multitude of concerts, workshops and shows on the terraces of the city's major hotels. And don't miss "Hotels amb DO" week, in mid-September, when Catalan wines are tasted in the city's most luxurious hotels. Consult the hotel calendar on mesqhotels.cat
For food lovers
The little-known esmorzar de forquilla (literally "fork breakfast") is the equivalent of brunch: a hearty breakfast served between 11am and 12pm, based on pa amb tomàquet (tomato bread) topped with cheese, cold meats, tortilla... A must-try Catalan custom!
