Presidential palace housed in a magnificent hotel built by Ernest Jaspar and Alexandre Marcel.

The Presidential Palace (al Ittehadiya) was housed in the Palace Hotel built in 1911 by Ernest Jaspar and Alexandre Marcel. The splendour of this magnificent hotel, undoubtedly the largest of its category at the time, in the world, made a great impression. In the years following the January 2011 revolution, several demonstrations were violently repressed in its vicinity. The president and first lady have not been resident there since then.
