The large building, built in the 19th century, is rather elegant for a railway station. It remains the junction between the railway and the metro. The colossal statue of Ramses II that stood in the middle of the footbridges has been moved, suffering from pollution. In the middle of the great hall, the information kiosk of the railway station will tell you where you can buy the ticket for your destination.

If you're in a real hurry and the trains are full, try your luck without a reservation. A photocopy of your passport will be required. Trains in general: n°86, departure at 7.45 pm from Cairo Central Station and at 8.15 pm from Giza Station; arrival at 5.45 am in Luxor and 8.50 am in Aswan. Extra train running only on Thursdays at 7.30 pm (7.55 pm Giza).
