Room with rooftop terrace in a hotel with rooftop bar-restaurant, one of the most beautiful in Stone Town.

This boutique hotel is a historic gem, housed in the 1870 Arab building belonging to the merchant Tharia Topan. Each of the nine rooms is an enchantment of cushions, fabrics, precious furniture and luxurious details. The Thousand and One Nights in the time of the sultans. Elevated rooms, such as the Sultan Seyyid Suite and the Tour Suite with its rooftop terrace, offer views over the rooftop forest. High steps through a green inner courtyard lead to the rooftop bar-restaurant, where dinner is held every evening to the sound of taarab music.

We stayed just two nights at Emerson on Hurumzi which included the rooftop dinner the first night. We got a balcony room which I recommend - great views and it was a delight to catch the sea breeze in the AM and evening. The room has air conditioning but since the space is fairly open it doesn't do much. Be aware that it can be quite warm in the room and that there are a number of steep steps to get to it. That said, it was a lovely stay in a great location with exceptional service. We enjoyed our breakfast and the rooftop dinner too.

We had a beautiful Christmas Eve rooftop dinner at Emersons. It was a delicious meal and the serving guys were amazing ,full of joy, very attentive. A definite must try.
