Scherwiller, at the mouth of the Sainte Marie aux Mines and Villé valleys, is one of Alsace's most famous wine-growing villages. Domaine Frey-Sohler, run by Damien and Nicolas Sohler, is a family estate with 29 hectares of vines. They produce a wide range of Alsace wines, from Sylvaner to Gewurztraminer, including Riesling from the "Scherwiller" communal appellation, Rittersberg wines, Grand Cru Frankstein, Vendanges Tardives and Sélections de Grains Nobles. The estate also has a tasting cellar where visitors can discover and purchase their wines. For wine lovers, a visit to the Frey-Sohler estate is a must when visiting Scherwiller.
