Built in the 15th century on the initiative of brothers Austremoine and Antoine Bohier, merchants and consuls of Issoire, the tower is the town's emblem. Embodying the rise of civil power in the face of religious authority, it has served a variety of functions: a clock whose bell sets the pace of city life, a watchtower, a town hall until the 19th century. Restored a few years ago, it now hosts temporary exhibitions and the new micro-folie space: a digital museum where you can discover great works of art thanks to digitization. Access to the belvedere is also possible.

Closed from early December to late February. Low season: open Tuesday to Friday and Sunday, 2pm to 6pm; Saturday, 10am to 12:30pm and 2pm to 6pm. A place for discovery, exploration and experimentation, the Tour de l'Horloge (Clock Tower) of the town of Issoire is a museographic facility dedicated to tourism and culture. Every year, it stages temporary exhibitions with a scientific and technical focus . Anemblematic building in Issoire's heritage and history, the Tour de l'Horloge has always been a landmark in Issoire life. It was built in the 15th century on the initiative of Austremoine Bohier and his brother Antoine, both merchants and consuls of Issoire. Also known as a belfry, the Tower has taken on several functions over the years, andhas now been converted into a tourist and cultural attraction.

The world's biggest multi-sport event returns to France exactly one hundred years after its last edition in Paris. Belvedere
The Tower's belfry (the highest in the canton) gives access to an exceptional 360° panorama of the Pays d'Issoire, the Massif du Sancy and the Livradois. Located in the heart of the town, the Tour de l'Horloge is just a few hundred meters from the splendid Romanesque abbey church of Saint-Austremoine.

Cultural mediators offer guided tours of the exhibition and workshops for nursery, primary and secondary schools, leisure centers and groups.

Les Jeudis de la Tour: artistic creation workshops

CINÉJEUNES - Administration
For the 28th consecutive year, the town of Issoire has decided to renew its participation in CinéJeunes. This image-education program is open to primary school classes from local schools.
The aim of the program is to raise awareness of cinematic culture and develop civic-mindedness by encouraging pupils to make choices and vote. Considered as the 7th art, cinema should be taught in the same way as literature, painting or music, as children are immersed in this fundamental art from a very early age, and in a way it is part of their education.
A selection of four films is presented to pupils aged 7 to 10 at the Le Modern cinema in Issoire. After the screening, they take part in class debates led by two cultural mediators from the Arts & Heritage department of the Direction de l'Action Culturelle de la Ville d'Issoire. This enables them to discuss the films, express their opinions and develop their critical faculties from an early age. It's a way of exploring different points of view and developing their artistic sensibilities.
22 registered classes from 5 different schools, representing 515 pupils, attended the mediators' presentations, with 7 CinéJeunes presentations, 70 debates and 1 Palmarès (1700 admissions to Le Modern cinema and 20 screenings).
Plein la Bobine partnership:
The partnership with Plein la Bobine in previous editions of the event has created synergy between the two organizations and enriched the experience of participants. Thanks to this collaboration, new perspectives and opportunities were opened up, enabling new horizons to be explored in the field of education and culture. It's a wonderful initiative that demonstrates the importance of cooperation and complementarity between players in the sector.
One class has benefited from this partnership for 4 consecutive years (participation by Issoire elementary schools).
Micro-folia
La Micro-Folie Issoire is a digital museum that makes art and heritage accessible to all. A virtual reality area is also available, allowing visitors to discover new cultures and technologies.
