The façade of this beautiful 15th-century house, with its Gothic doorway, is well worth a visit. Flamboyant in style, it is topped by a fine network of Volvic stone trefoils, speckles and bellows. The courtyard and main buildings are linked by galleries and a spiral staircase. A drama unfolded behind this door in 1592, during the reign of Henri IV. Exasperated by the antics of the mistress of the city governor Yves d'Allègre, the mob invaded the hotel, killing him and the marquise. "We killed the dog and the bitch", said the people of Issoiri!
