Small cliffs in Põlva, once used for sacrifices to the gods to protect harvests.
If you have a car and time, the Taevaskoja cliffs are worth a visit. Located only 6 km from the village of Põlva, a hike allows you to discover the small cliffs of Taevaskoja, through a pretty forest of fir trees, while following the river Ahja. The name of the cliffs can be translated as "Sky Room" and comes from the large sandstone walls that have been formed for centuries with the river. In ancient times, many sacrifices were made here for the gods to protect the crops.
