Things to see and do Chiufen - Jioufen 九份

This small museum accounts for nearly fifty years of mining, through everyday objects of minors, but also for extraction demonstrations. Less interesting than the mining facilities of Jinguashi, but is worth a detour if you go no further than Chiufen.

Only 588 m high, but bordering the ocean, and looking like a high mountain when viewed from below, this peak dominates Jiufen and the surrounding valleys (including Jinguashi). It is possible to climb to the top by a small stone staircase and paths, in 45 minutes maximum. From above, the view is breathtaking. To get there, from the main road, continue past Jishan Road for about 750m, then turn left. The trail starts here. Be careful, the ascent can be difficult.

The location has an exhibition on the history of Chiufen, on the first and second floor, but it is much more famous for its coffee, on the top floor, from which you can contemplate the beach of Juipin.
