Every Sunday, the people of Clermont-Ferrand meet at Place Gambetta - better known as Place des Salins - to bargain. The exhibitors, professionals and individuals, are there and the good deals are always present. Next to the market, there are also stalls selling fruit and vegetables, bread, cheese, meat and fish, as well as many ready-made dishes to enjoy at lunchtime. A real market worthy of the name! To exhibit, it is advisable to reserve 15 days in advance.

En vacances j'étais suivie avec ma famille partout ou on allais. On était intimidés par des individus dans le section de légumes, fruits etc. Moi mes enfants et mon mari ont du quitter le marché avec une grande hâte ainsi qu'une dame qui venait de se faire agresser en plein milieu juste avant. Je m'y remettras plus jamais les pieds.
Sadly most have gone, driven out by intimidation and thieves. A real shame that the Clermont authorities did little to support them. Unfortunately Clermont Ferrand has lost a great asset, respected across Europe that is no longer even a shadow of what it once was. Only great memories are left.
Cependant depuis 20 ans environ les puces des Salins, idéalement situé au centre ville perdurent pour le bonheur des amateurs de brocante et pour ceux qui aiment se balader dans ce sympathique foutoir.
