MONTFERRAND
A stroll through Clermont-Ferrand, to discover the Place de la Rodade, the Musée d'Art Roger-Quilliot, the Volvic galleries...
From the 12th to the 17th century, Montferrand was a bastide neighboring Clermont. In 1630, the Edict of Troyes united the two towns, a union confirmed in 1731. This medieval and Renaissance town prospered under the shelter of impressive 1,772-meter-long ramparts. To admire the courtyards of the mansions, with their spiral staircases and superimposed galleries of Volvic stone, you'll need to push open a few doors! Take a pleasant stroll from Place de la Rodade to the Musée d'Art Roger-Quilliot, via the Notre-Dame de Prospérité church and Place Marcel-Sembat.
