Clermont Auvergne Opéra is a season full of nuggets: operas, concerts, recitals... from the great classics to new composers! Between cult works and original creations, the shows take place for the most part at the Opéra-Théâtre and the Maison de la Culture. The program? Rich, eclectic and always of the highest quality! Every two years, it organizes the International Singing Competition, which thrills Clermont by revealing the talents of tomorrow from all over the world. Far from elitism, its shows are aimed at all audiences, with even Young Audience sessions to share opera with the family from an early age.

Owner's Message
Founded in 1983, the Centre lyrique Clermont-Auvergne, an association under the law of 1901, essentially organized the Concours international de chant de la Ville de Clermont-Ferrand when, in 1998, the municipality of Clermont-Ferrand entrusted it with the creation of a Lyric Season. Combining quality, diversity, openness and originality, it quickly met with great popular success: key figures for the latest 2016-2017 season speak for themselves, with 19,000 spectators, 2/3 of them in Clermont-Ferrand, an 87% occupancy rate for the Opéra-Théâtre and 30% of the audience under 27.
By staging shows at the newly renovated Opéra-Théâtre and mixing repertory works with premieres, the Centre lyrique Clermont-Auvergne has enabled Clermont-Ferrand to regain its place among "lyric" cities, while working to renew its audience through an intense policy of artistic and cultural education.

A season rooted in the region
The 2025/2026 opera season opens under the banner of sharing, decompartmentalization and complicity with the region's major cultural forces. Driven by a strong desire to broaden the horizons of opera and bring it to the heart of the city, this season will forge new links with Clermont-Ferrand's emblematic institutions.
In December, the stage of the Comédie de Clermont, scène nationale, will host a show as audacious as it is exuberant: Madame Arthur fait son opéra. In this unbridled cross-dressing cabaret, the artists revisit opera with irreverence, humor and panache, shaking up the codes to reveal their subversive power. An invitation to hear the great arias of the repertoire in a different light, in a spirit of joyful freedom.
On December 31, the Orchestre national Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes celebrates the arrival of the new year with a festive New Year's Concert, featuring the great operatic repertoire and the finest orchestral works. A sparkling evening of musical refinement and shared joy.
Finally, in June, the lyric season draws to a close at the Coopérative de Mai, a major venue for contemporary music, with Le Chant de la Terre, a festive concert-bal under the banner of encounters and dance. Lyric art and popular music will come together to make opera resonate in places where it is least expected, and invite all audiences to embrace it in a joyful, collective atmosphere.
