Travel Guide Tsagaan Tsavyn

This site is located 200 kilometers west of the city of Saynshand. One can discover there many petrified trees in the middle of a desert of sand and stones. The site is located near the Suikhen mountain, very south of the sum of Mandakh. It is one of the few petrified forests in Mongolia. It was formed during the Jurassic period, about 500 meters long and 800 wide. You can see fossilized fallen trees, some more than twenty meters long. The place is well suited for hiking and photography. The area is inhabited by goitered gazelles, which you may be lucky enough to observe.
