Very fishy, this small lake of 25 km² is located at an altitude of 1 337 meters, north-east of Tsetserleg. It is estimated that 50 tons of fish can be extracted per year without damaging its balance! It is also a stage for migratory birds, among which Dalmatian pelicans and wild geese are the most numerous. On the western shore of the lake are the ruins of the Chilin monastery, dating from the 17th century. It is currently surrounded by water, which makes it impossible to see it from less than a kilometer away. A local legend tells that a wild cow lives in the lake. It would bring luck to whoever would be able to see it...
