Travel Guide Bragança

A little far from the capital, 210 km from Belém, Bragança can be reached by taking the BR-316, by private car or by bus. The city is famous for its cultural and folkloric festivals, especially the Marujada, organized by the women of the city, and whose origin dates back to 1798, when 14 slaves received from the local authorities the right to celebrate their devotion to Santo Benedito. Also one of the most beautiful beaches in the region, the Ajuruteua. Some historical buildings are still visible in the streets of the city, such as the church of São Benedito, from the 18th century, the cathedral of Nossa Senhora do Rosário.
