Praça Popular, officially known as Place Eurico Gaspar Dutra, is the heart of the Mato Grosso capital's nightlife. Popular on weekends, it's the place to be for trendy bars and restaurants in a friendly atmosphere. This square is one of three in the "bairro popular", founded in 1946 by the eponymous president Eurico Gaspar Dutra, to plan decent neighborhoods for Brazil's working classes. The Nordic restaurant Flor de mandacaru, the Japanese restaurant Haru and the bar Ditado Popular are just some of the options on offer.
