This seaside resort, 25 km north of Natal, boasts a large beach lined with bars and coconut palms, ending in a 30-metre-high dune to the south. A single road winds behind the resort's villas and hotels. Lagoons and a mineral water spring. Opinions differ. Some abhor it, for others it's paradise. On the beach, buggies speed along the two lanes. Young locals sandboard down the 50 m-high dunes at right angles to the road. But there's still plenty of laughter to be heard, and the locals are discreet and friendly.
