The south of the Alagoas extends to Sergipe, which stands out as the smallest Brazilian state of just 22 000 km ². The interior region of Hilly is known for its arid climate. The state capital, São, was the first fully planned city of Brazil in 1855.We can still admire beautiful architectural remains at Laranjeiras and São Cristóvão. A long time dependent on sugar cane, the economy has recently diversified by welcoming some industries. The state is also known for its shipyards, it is one of the first producers of escunas, wooden fishing boats.
