MERCADO MODELO
Originally used as a slave sorting center, the building has now become an interesting market for tourists
This building, adjacent to the port, was initially used as a "sorting" center for slaves arriving in Salvador. You can still take the stairs down to the damp basements where they were kept awaiting auction. After the abolition of slavery (1888), the building was used solely as a customs house. Destroyed by fire in 1986, it was completely renovated and is now an interesting market for tourists. You can go shopping before you leave.

Enfin, je recommande les restaurants du dernier étage qui propose une savoureuse cuisine traditionnelle.
