CORREIOS CENTRAL
Read moreSalvador is a Brazilian city with a postal service called Correios Central. The Correios are responsible for receiving international shipments and clearing them through customs. When a person makes a purchase on a foreign site or receives a gift from abroad, this is an import that is subject to Brazilian customs. Imported items undergo a customs clearance process that checks whether the information and documents comply with legislation. International postal consignments with a customs value of less than US$3,000 are subject to an import tax of 60% of the value of the goods, as well as other charges such as transport and insurance. Correios has an online platform called Minhas Importações that facilitates the customs clearance process for international shipments. Users can find the requirements of the Receita Federal and other competent bodies for the release of their shipment. Payments of taxes and customs clearance fees can be made via the Minhas Importações platform. Correios cannot speed up the customs clearance process, which is the responsibility of the customs authorities.
