Tiny island with a superb beach and a popular summer kiosk serving drinks and grilled fish

A tiny island where for a long time a single inhabitant of Japanese origin lived, a peculiarity that was enough to give the name to this place. The locals reach it by boat or by swimming across the canal; you can walk between the island and the opposite bank in the Passagem district (beware of the current some days). A kiosk offers drinks and grilled fish. Tables and chairs are placed in the water. Very busy in summer. On the other side of the hill, after a very steep path, there is a superb beach, loved by surfers and naturists!
