The finest building in the historic center, dedicated to the patron saint of Paraty, in neoclassical style
It is one of the most beautiful buildings in the historic centre, dedicated to the patron saint of the city. The first building, built in 1646, was destroyed to build a larger monument, completed in 1712, thanks to the hard work of slaves. But the church in turn became too small and was rebuilt! The present building was completed in 1873, in a neoclassical style. The towers were not completed. The inclination of the building on soft ground would have made it dangerous to finish the towers!

Belle église, la plus grande de paraty. C'est un très beau batiment. L'intérieur est un peu déroutant car ce n'est pas droit, ce qui est probablement du au sol meuble!

Située près d'une place agréable, arborée, cette église accueillait les personnes les plus aisées de Paraty, ville oubliée pendant de nombreuses années, qui avaient fait fortune dans les plantations, café, cannes à sucre...
