The best restaurants Paraty

Paraty is a town of fishermen and seafood. This charming restaurant at the very tip of the historical centre of Paraty is really a good place to taste seafood specialities such as fish moquecas and grilled fish with banana. The lobsters are generous and well grilled. The welcome of the owner and his wife (who also have a small family pousada upstairs) is very warm, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is romantic. An address that changes from the busy restaurants on the main streets of Paraty.

This cosy little cafe is located in one of the romantic central streets of the old town of Paraty. The decoration is both simple and sophisticated, the terracotta tilesblend well with the wooden decoration of this shop. In the Pingado café, you will be offered excellent local coffees including a very original one made with cachaça, whipped cream and ginger jelly. If the menu of the coffees puts well in the honor what made the richness of this region of Brazil, the menu of the sandwiches is also interesting.

With its cobblestones on its front, reminiscent of the orla of Rio de Janeiro, and its brick walls, the torre da pizza has a convivial and traditional side that is not contradicted by the presentation of its menu. This pizzeria is a good option for small budgets in the centre, as it has reasonable prices and the pizzas are prepared with love (but it takes time): fine dough, homemade tomato sauce, and the menu offers other dishes that are not too expensive. There are a few tables in the pleasant street for lunch or dinner outside.

Sophisticated setting, white tablecloths and jazzy musical background, this restaurant is definitely one of the best in Paraty, the atmosphere is very romantic and sophisticated. The restaurant is specialized in typical regional caiçara cuisine. And it is undeniably worth the trip! We will appreciate the octopus or the fish marinated with mango, its purple onions and its coconut sauce. The meat is not in rest. For dessert, the cooked banana with its scoop of ice cream of doce de leite and crushed peanuts is a must. The plate is delicious and the note is salty.

For many years Sabor da Terra has been offering its cuisine to locals and tourists who do not want to spend too much without sacrificing the quality of the contents of the plate. In this restaurant by the kilo at the entrance to the old town, you will find a buffet that may lack variety, but is certainly of high quality at a very affordable price compared to those in the centre. Good minute grilled meats, ready meals, vegetables, pasta, rice... a good Brazilian cuisine without pretension. More and more guests are going there!

Punto di vino has established itself as a safe bet for Italian cuisine. Pippo, the Italian owner, always manages to find you a small place (prefer the garden, cooler), even when the restaurant seems full (which happens very often). Very good Italian cuisine with Brazilian flavors. Try the carpaccio triplo con rucola, a delight of local products. Excellent pizzas, a little expensive but prepared with good ingredients, Italian style (priceless). In the evening, regular concerts ao vivo, especially on weekends, for the atmosphere.

The Margarida Café is an emblematic establishment in Paraty. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and romantic restaurants in this small colonial town. You can eat or have a drink in a beautiful and large room with exposed stones, wood, sofas and period furniture and a small winter garden. Concerts every evening. Brazilian and international dishes (moquecas, paellas, pizzas...), some original dishes (crispy shrimps, fish in the chef's style...), excellent wines. Very touristic, but pleasant. Note a little salty.

On the quays, a beautiful address, with several tables outside with a view of the schooners and the bay. Seafood and fish specialties selected by chef Maria Isabel do Amaral directly from local fishermen. 20 years of know-how for a gastronomic restaurant that combines Brazilian tradition with a Mediterranean touch. Also good meat dishes and homemade pasta (especially the excellent pastas ao vongole). You can also come here to have a drink, enjoy thehappy hour and the quietness of the place.

This recent restaurant in Paraty offers a rather original menu (typical dishes enhanced with less well-known flavours), including seafood specialities. Good cocktail menu too, to have a little drink as an aperitif. The terrace tables in the street are a real asset, because you feel good there. The decoration is pleasant, with its white canvases interwoven with wooden beams on the ceiling. The atmosphere is both chic and simple. The waiters are listening, the live music on weekend evenings is pleasant.

In a very simple setting, with small wooden seats, straw and wicker on the walls, the Borogodo has chosen to privilege the simple and the good taste and it succeeds rather well. It is a good plan for a cheap and quality lunch and dinner: typical dishes, generous home-made burgers, smoothies, açai... As a bonus, this small bar-resto prepares very good cocktails(caipirinha maracuja-cinnamon for example or "Jorge Amado"). It's a nice place to have a drink and relax with friends. Good value for money.

The owner, Yves, a French in love with Paraty, cuisine our good olds pancakes: mozzarella and tomato of Provence, tuna and olive or chocolate. One regales oneself at handsome price.
