FESTIVAL DA PINGA

Every year in mid-August, the Pinga Festival is held in Paraty, a folklore festival. The producers of the local cachaça , called pinga, have established a festivity where the Brazilian rum (produced from sugar cane) distilled in seven stills is honoured. There are many people in the streets and concerts by famous Brazilian artists. In a very festive atmosphere, you can taste many local specialities in the small shacks of the place da Matriz.
